2009 Joint Navigation Conference
June 1-4, 2009
Wyndham Orlando Resort
(Classified Sessions to be held at Shades of Green)
Orlando, Florida

The Joint Service Data Exchange (JSDE) and The Institute of Navigation (ION) will co-sponsor the Joint Navigation Conference (JNC) 2009. The conference will take place June 1-4, 2009 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida.

In May 2008, the JSDE and ION entered into an agreement to co-sponsor the JNC 2009. Consequently, the JNC 2009 conference in June will replace the ION’s summer meeting.

JNC 2009 will be the largest U.S. military navigation conference of the year with joint service and government participation. The event will focus on technical advances in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) with emphasis on joint development, test and support of affordable GN&C systems, logistics, and integration.
JNC conference attendance will be restricted to: US Government, US Government contractors, and Allied personnel from Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Foreign national participation will be limited to AUS, CAN and UK only. This “4 eyes” restriction applies to the entire conference: unclassified and classified sessions. All attendees for the FOUO sessions require approved visit requests. Advance visit requests and approvals are required for all attendees. Foreign national visit requests must be received in accordance with USSTRATCOM policy.

The Joint Services Data Exchange

The Joint Service Data Exchange (JSDE) is a joint-service supported organization with representatives of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Draper Laboratory and Penn State University comprising the Executive Board. It is the only tri-service organization that focuses on guidance, navigation and control (GN&C) topics.

Its purpose is to share lessons learned on guidance, navigation and control issues between the services to facilitate the development of cost-effective solutions via joint development, integration, test and support of affordable systems.

It accomplishes this by sponsoring technical meetings for the exchange of ideas and experiences relating to the development, production, test, maintenance and operational usage of equipments in the areas of guidance, navigation and control.

The Institute of Navigation

The Institute of Navigation is a non-profit professional society dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of navigation. Founded in 1945, it serves a diverse community including those interested in air, space, marine, land navigation, and position determination.

ION accomplishes its purpose by sponsoring three annual technical conferences which focus on current developments in navigation technology and policy. ION publishes a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal, and sponsors a variety of programs intended to promote the art and science of navigation.

ION members are drawn from many sources including professional navigators, engineers, physicists, educators, geodesists, members of the armed forces, surveyors, mariners, yachtsmen, astronomers, cartographers and anyone interested in position-determining systems. Corporate members include corporations, civil and military government agencies, private scientific and technical institutions, universities and training academies, and consulting firms.
