Abstract: | The state of the art of navigation in 2045 is dilIicult to predict from a short term viewpoint. However, a study of the history of the art and science of navigation over the long term highlights several more or less constant threads of progress that provide a stable frame of reference for evaluation of navigation’s future evolution. Several conjectural examples are used to illustrate the impact of this progress. |
